Spider-Man 2 (Widescreen Special Edition)
A KICK-ASS SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER
This could have been a great movie. The acting, the special effects, and the story, all are very good. However, the constant emphasis on self-sacrifice ruined it for me.
Peter Parker never had to "sacrifice" himself to be Spiderman. He assumed the role because that was what he was great at. Pride and a sense of achievement, not self-acrifice, is what motivates him.
Godzilla
Godzilla kicks booty
The movie was totally awesome and their is going to be another movie all of you people that think the movie stunk well guess what your frickin' wrong ya losers
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu - Full Metal Pandemonium (Vol. 1)
Fantastic
I just saw this set over the weekend and am completely charmed by this series. Anyone who likes a dash of comedy, romance, drama in their anime should and must check this out. Wonderful characters, storyline and characters. Top notch production values too. A magical experience. I can't wait to see the rest
Leap Frog - Letter Factory
incomplete but still worth it
Although it doesn't teach the difference between short and long vowels it only teaches short vowel sounds, it is a good start to learning the letter sounds torrent. My 3 yr old son sings the catchy tune for the letter sounds all the time even though he's only seen the video twice. It's very creative the way they help kids remember the sounds for the letters..
The Privileged Planet
extremely edifying -- commend it to all people
Very entertaining and information-packed and professionally produced. Good enough and significant enough that if one were to see but one movie in a lifetime, "The Privileged Planet" would be a good choice
Gives many reasons, especially from the relatively new discipline of astrobiology, that confirm the properties of our physical universe, and especially our planet earth, are uniquely "fine tuned" to be able to support intelligent life. Shows how our precise "position" in the universe and its particular laws of physics and chemistry - with their particular and precise mathematical constants and constraints - have been exceedingly helpful not only to support intelligent life but also for our ability to "see" the properties of our solar system, our galaxy and the structure and properties of our universe as a whole.
Among other things, the presentation shows how full solar eclipses caused by the unique size and particular orbital relationship with our unique moon enable us to conveniently discover much - first about our sun and then about the rest of universe.
The presentation lets the facts themselves "cry out" - "Creator" - apparently an intelligent Designer that wants man to be able to study and understand His handiwork No particular religious view is advanced, though the historical thread of the presentation confirms that the belief in a rational universe created and governed by a Lawgiver did lead to the genesis of "modern science".
I commend this presentation to the vital education of every person
Evolution
Just to good
All right, if you can bypass the fact that the movie bombed at the box office, this a movie everyone can enjoy emule. After watching the x-files for so long I became a fan of David Duchovny but always wished he had a few more humorous parts. This movie deffinately has that. The plot is nothing new, aliens come to earth, mankind must find a way to beat them or we will become extinct, yadda yadda yadda. The plot is by no means the best, its the acting and one liners from Sean Scott, Orlando Jones, and David Duchovny. They all work really well together on screen. The movie makes me laugh everytime i see it. A must see..

As one who owns the Japanese version of "Guardians of Altomere", I must say that I was very pleased with this production. Animation quality is right up there with the more "critically acclaimed" animated films, and while this film is no "Spirited Away", this film DOES show significant improvements over the previous films in this genre.
The story is somewhat original, however, does tend to fall into the previous traps that the previous 4 have. While Ash is the centerpiece of the series and the films, less emphasis needs to be put on this character and more emphasis on the other companion characters in the series.
Aside from some of the minor shortcomings in the story, the animation and the music in this film make up for this. All in all, this is a film that can be enjoyed by FAMILIES and fans young and old. A well done and very well deserving piece of work.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds - Invitation Only
Cool Performance and Great Bonus Guitar Lesson
This DVD has a full concert performance that's very good ed2k. It's a small venue with a real family feel. Like they invited friends to see the taping of the DVD. The singer is original, but I think all the other guys are new. They are all excellent players and fit the style of the Fabulous Thunderbirds perfectly. They have a horn section, backup singers, and a great piano player. The guitarist, Kid Ramos, is a good player and what's also cool about this DVD is that he gives lessons on two songs in the Bonus features with 5 camera angels. If you have a bit of experience, it'll be pretty easy to pick up these songs. Very cool feature for guitarists. I wish more DVD's had this..

Star Wars - Episode II, Attack of the Clones (Full Screen Edition)
Another Awesome Sequel
First of all, if you read my review for Star Wars Ep. 1 the Phantom Menace, then you know where i stand on the "sequel" thing. I think this is an awesome movie. The emotions are definately there, and they are acted strongly. THe action is great, and the story is a brilliant continuation of George Lucas' visionary story.

Redemption - The Stan "Tookie" Williams Story
A conversation starter and great acting
This was really an awesome movie. Jamie Foxx is such a remarkable actor, he can do comedy and he can do drama. "Redemption" is all drama. Raised by the streets and abandoned by his father Tookie creates a family of his own by starting a street gang. Writer Lynn Whitfields character has a young son she is trying to raise and she decides to write a book outside of her norm-a book on the street gand the Crips. She sells her agent on the idea and then pursues Tookie's assistance. He is initially resistant but opens up to her. The film evolves and their working relationship grows into a friendship and Tookie although imprisoned finds his own voice as a writer. This is a really good film that will really make you think, yes this man committed horrible crimes but did he somehow redeem himself Should he be back in society This film will spark conversation and the acting is A
The Village (Widescreen Edition) (Vista Series)
This is a thinking person's movie.
I was appalled to see all of the negative reviews for "The Village", especially the A.O. Scott review in "The New York Times", where he made possibly the stupidest journalistic remark I have read this year when he said that the colors in "The Village" had to do with terrorism alert warnings. How ignorant. You'd think he would at least PRETEND to have studied the significance of colors in Indian culture ... but I digress.
Have you ever heard of something called, "A thinking person's movie" You know, movies like "The Night of the Hunter", "The Virgin Spring", and "Spellbound" Hint hint: I'm not talking about movies such as "The Terminator", "Aliens", or "Jeepers Creepers" here which are all good movies in their own way, but not THINKING movies.
M. Night Shyamalan's movies are for people who like to THINK while they are watching a movie, not just sit back and be mindlessly entertained. I guess that make them movies that are not fit for the average American, as harsh as that may sound hey, I work with the public; I'm allowed to say that See the website customerssuck.com for more illumination on this topic.
"The Village" is a beautiful, masterful, hypnotic gem of a movie that will stay strong in your mind for days after you have seen it, and it will stay with you for life if you let it.
It's too bad that the white male elite Baby Boomers who are in charge of telling us what is good and what is not in American entertainment media are so threatened by M. Night Shyamalan that they will not even give him the respect of taking his movies seriously. Hey, I guess that everything George Carlin has to say about the American elite's attitude toward "brown people" is true see George Carlin's books and stand-up for more information.
It is very obvious to me that Shyamalan is a victim of racism - how dare an Indian make cutting edge movies What nerve - his parents moved to America from India, became doctors, and sent their son to NYU. And now he is trying to show us art, and even move art into popular culture Shouldn't those actions be reserved for the Pale Males Aren't they in charge of popular culture I mean, if people of color want to make nice little art house indie films about racism and such, that's fine, but make artful movies about other topics and move them into popular culture How out of line.
That's the attitude I'm seeing.
I'm glad someone of my generation is brave enough to make films about the topics that are archetypical to Gen X-ers, such as UFO's, ghosts, and monsters in the woods. Oh, and religion.
Because ultimately, that is what "The Village" is about.
But you have to be able to think to figure that out.
